CCWA Members met the BMC ‘L’ Ward Chief to discuss Civic issues of Chandivali

Members of ‘Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association’ (CCWA) on Friday, 16 December met ‘L’ ward Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Mahadev Shinde to discuss civic issues in Chandivali. On behalf of the association, Mandeep Singh Makkar, Kunal Yadav, Yogesh Patil, and Amit Sonkar raised the civic issues of Chandivali area. Association also submitted a written complaint to the Assistant municipal commissioner for the removal of encroachments on DP Road 9, Khairani Road, and Chandivali Farm Road.

On this occasion, Shinde promised to immediately resolve the issues raised by the delegation and assured that the concerned officials of the department would visit the area to solve issues.

The residents of Chandivali are gearing up to fight the growing civic problems of Chandivali as elected representatives turn a deaf ear. Through Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association, Chandivalikar is drawing the attention of BMC, Mumbai Police, and Traffic Police to these problems through social media, email, and written correspondence.

Chandivalikar is currently struggling with many problems such as unclean roads and localities, traffic jams, unauthorized hawkers, and encroachments. But People’s representatives are either turning a blind eye to the problem or delaying the matter by saying they will solve the problem soon. “When we complained to the elected representatives, they said that they would solve it in 2 days while some said they would solve it in a week. But even after several months, the problems are still the same,” said Chandivalikars.

“Many problems in our area are related to BMC. Many problems can be solved if the BMC follows this up properly. That is why we met the ‘L’ Ward assistant commissioner and raised our problems. He has listened to our concerns and responded positively,” told Mandeep Singh.

This time, the association also handed over a written complaint letter to Shinde about the encroachment of residents and unauthorized shops on footpaths and roads on DP Road 9, Khairani Road, and Chandivali Farm Road. Vehicles are being parked on the 90 feet road in the area constructed in ‘Ward No. 158’ connecting Chandivali with JVLR, which is in the development plan. So this road should be completed as soon as possible to give relief to the citizens. Garbage is piling up in many parts of the area as garbage is not cleared. In some areas, there are no garbage bins at all. Pollution is increasing in the area. Citizens have to face great difficulties due to simultaneous digging for work at different places in the area.

Shinde assured to solve the problems raised by the citizens in a phased manner with the help of the concerned officers of the department. He also showed positivity in meeting with the citizens to understand the problems in the area.
