A case has been registered against a woman living at Lake Home complex in Powai for violating quarantine rulesA case has been registered against a woman living at Lake Home complex in Powai for violating quarantine rules made to prevent the spread of the corona epidemic. The case was registered on Thursday after a complaint was lodged by Dr. Hiraman Mahangade, assistant medical officer of the BMC ‘L’ ward. The apartment floor had been sealed after a corona positive patient was found. The woman had left the apartment despite being prohibited from going out without medical reasons.

The corona cases are on the rise again in Mumbai. BMC has now started taking more stringent steps to stop the spread of the virus and peoples violating quarantine rules.

On February 14, a 48-year-old man living in the Everest Heights building in Lake Home tested Corona positive. The BMC Health Department had taken proper precautions and sealed the concerned floor of the building. Residents were instructed to take appropriate home quarantine precautions and were prohibited from leaving the apartment except for medical treatment. A banner was also put up warning that the floor was sealed.

“On February 17, at around 11.30 am, I went to the 17th floor of Lake Home, Everest Heights for an inspection, but found the woman living on that floor was not present. On enquiring, I learnt that the woman had gone out of Mumbai for work. I went there again on February 18 at 3 pm and inquired about the woman and found that she had not returned. I have informed the medical officer L Ward, Jitendra Jadhav about it and he has instructed me to complain to the police station,” the complainant said in a statement given to Powai police.

Powai Police said, “The woman went outside Mumbai for work without following the regulations and disobeyed the orders of the BMC, even the State and Central Government had informed the public from time to time. A case has been registered under section 11 of Epidemic Covid-19 act, Disaster Management, sections 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
