The 74th Republic Day celebrations of independent India were celebrated with pomp and fanfare at various places in Powai and Chandivali. Powai English High School (PEHS) also celebrated “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsava” on Republic Day with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, the flag was unfurled by Veteran, Commander Vijay Vadhera. The attraction of this National festival in PEHS was the ‘Kala Darpan’ – an art and culture Fest with live music. It showcased the various talents of the students the exhibits were decorated with various attractive paintings, Tabloids, collage making, sketches, bottle arts, and craft work. They also showed the culture of different regions of India, and the kindergarten and primary kids’ dancing was really adorable.
Along with Commander Vijay Vadhera, Actor Jayaraj Nair, Commander GVK Unnithan, Captain Avinash Nerulkar, Dr. Narayan Iyer (CEO – Indian Development Foundation), Dr. Nanda Kumar Jadhav, Writer Katie Bagli. Nurse Pushpa Moncy, Senior Police Inspector Uttam Suryavanshi (Powai Traffic Division), social worker Rajool Sanjay Patil, teachers, and various media persons were guests at the celebration.
In collaboration with GHP Group, this cultural and art exhibition was organized by the Principal Ms. Shirley Udayakumar, Secondary HM Sreekumar Menon, Primary HM Binu Nair, and Pre-Primary HM Bhavna Magoo, teachers, parents and students.
The school gave them a good platform to exhibit their talents. The Art teacher Lauraj Rane, Pramila Atkare and other teachers supported the Fest, with students helping shoulder to shoulder.
The exhibition was enjoyed by Parents, students, Ex-students, Powaiites along with Principals and teachers of various schools.
Every year on Republic Day, the Chitraratha of different states present their culture on the Karmapath in Delhi. A mini version of the same was seen this year at the Kala Darpan organized by Powai English High School. Fest from Tabloids to the food of different states, temples, important personalities, etc was showcased. Some replicas were also an added attraction, military aircraft, warships, guns, and missiles were perfect for Republic day.
The School also felicitated Veterans, policemen, doctors, teachers, nurses, social workers, and journalists who have performed their duties in various fields with social commitment and outstanding performance.
A remarkable Fest indeed! that will be cherished in the memories of students.
