In a shocking incident that unfolded on Thursday, October 17, thieves targeted a car parked at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, leaving the owner devastated. Sanjay Kumar Kumble, a civil contractor at IIT Mumbai, and his employee Shweta Solanki fell victim to the crime while out shopping Diwali gifts for employees.
The unfortunate turn of events occurred after Kumble parked his Scorpio car with the number MH 03 EL 8516 outside the Spectra building in Hiranandani Gardens around 8:10 pm. As they returned at approximately 8:45 pm, they were met with the distressing sight of the car’s left rear middle window shattered. Solanki’s bag, containing Rs 16,000 in cash, important documents, and a bank ATM card, had been missing from the vehicle.
An investigating officer assured that efforts are underway to track down the culprits, with the CCTV footage in the area being scrutinized for leads. Highlighting the recurring issue of theft from parked cars, a senior official urged citizens to refrain from leaving valuables unattended in their vehicles or to ensure that they are secured in a safe location.
The official further added that, “the involvement of an Iranian gang in such crimes is suspected, pointing to the likelihood of multiple individuals being part of the operation.” As the investigation progresses, authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
