In a remarkable display of community spirit and commitment to the Swachh Bharat mission, the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension (DLLE) of Sinhgad College of Commerce and the Rotaract Club of Sinhgad College of Commerce jointly launched the “Shramdaan” cleanliness initiative on October 1st, 2023.
This initiative was aimed at cleaning up the Powai Ganpati Visarjan Ghat, a cherished site for devotees and a testament to the power of collective effort.
Rtr. Iqra Khan, the dynamic Club President, expressed her enthusiasm and pride in the joint effort: “We believe in the motto of ‘Service Above Self.’ Cleaning up the Powai Ganpati Visarjan Ghat was not just about clearing litter but also about raising awareness on environmental conservation. It was heartwarming to see students, faculty, and local residents come together for this noble cause.”
Akash Jadhav, the Head of DLLE, emphasized the educational aspect of the initiative: “At DLLE, our mission is to bridge the gap between academics and community needs. We hope this initiative will inspire others to take similar steps towards a cleaner and greener India.”
The cleanliness drive at Powai Ganpati Visarjan Ghat is just the beginning of what promises to be a long-term partnership between the DLLE and the Rotaract Club of Sinhgad College of Commerce in their mission to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and community service.
This collaborative effort is a shining example of how institutions and youth organizations can come together to create positive change and contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
