Powai police have arrested two persons for illegally selling and transporting gutka in Powai. The arrested accused are identified as Pradeep Kharwal (48) and Kalpesh Prakash Pawaskar (26). The police have seized a car and gutka worth Rs 1,92,800.
Powai police had received a tip-off that cannabis (Ganja) was being transported to Powai in a white car number MH01AX4250. “We had received information that a white car coming from Gujarat had crossed Dahisar Cheknaka and reached Powai. We kept watching at the Milindnagar area of Powai. A suspected person was seen moving suspiciously near a white car,” told Powai police.
“We took the person in custody, checked the car and found gutka worth Rs 1, 92,800 in a gunny bag,” said police sub-inspector Yadav of Powai police station.
During the interrogation of the accused, it came to light that he was doing this along with one of his accomplices. Both have been remanded to police custody for two days for further investigation.
The raid was done by sub-inspector Yadav under the guidance of senior police inspector Aburao Sonawane and police inspector Sawant.
