A common man is happy in his work and with himself. However, on Sunday, February 12, many Chandivali residents are in a state of protest under the leadership of the ‘Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association’ (CCWA). A large number of Chandivali citizens will take to the streets at 11 am to protest the negligence and inactivity of the administration. What is the purpose of CCWA a protest?
DP Road 9 – This is the only road connecting Chandivali with Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) and it is currently stuck in a tangle of encroachments. The road has been in poor condition. Vehicles are parked on one side of the road, while on the other side, people have encroached upon the footpath. Citizens are demanding that this encroachment be removed and a road be built.
90 Ft Road – A 90-foot road connecting Chandivali with Sakinaka and Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) has been shown in the development plan. But, except for the part of this road constructed at Chandivali, the rest of the road has been stalled for years. The CCWA demands that this road should be constructed as soon as possible to free the citizens from the traffic jam.
Traffic Congestion – All the roads in Chandivali have become encroached. On many roads, road repair or construction works have been going on for several months. Vehicles are being parked on the roads. Due to all these reasons, there is a lot of traffic congestion in the area. The administration should take appropriate measures to address this.
Encroachment on footpaths and roads – All roads such as Chandivali Farm Road, DP Road 9, Khairani Road, and Vicinia Road, as well as the footpaths on these roads, have been encroached upon. The BMC should immediately remove these encroachments.
Road construction work delayed on Chandivali Farm Road – Road construction work has been going on for the past two and a half months from Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to Pashmina Hill on Chandivali Farm Road. This road has been closed for this work. But this road is an important link connecting Hiranandani. Students going to school, Mumbaikars coming to work, and residents have all faced problems. Therefore, the work on at least one road here should be completed as soon as possible and that road should be opened for traffic.
Single Window Digital Grievance Redressal System – Citizens often have to approach multiple departments to raise their issues, but this does not guarantee that their problem will be solved. Therefore, there should be a single-window digital grievance redressal system for citizens to raise their concerns.
“We met the Assistant Commissioner of the BMC ‘L’ ward and demanded that solve these problems at the earliest. However, instead of solving this problem, we were given the names of 8 different departments from their office. The BMC ‘L’ ward has made our ‘Musaddilal’,” said Mandeep Singh, a founder of the Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association.
He further added, “So far, nearly 250 people have registered for this protest, and more citizens will take to the streets to protest peacefully.
