After the retirement of Senior Police Inspector (Sr. PI) Sudhakar Kamble, an additional charge had been given to Police Inspector Vijay Dalvi. Senior Inspector Aburao Sonawane has now been appointed to the post which was lying vacant for several days due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He had earlier served as a senior police inspector in the anti-narcotics cell.
Sonawane has also previously served in various police stations in Mumbai, as well as in special branches. He has also worked as a senior police inspector in the crime branch and has a good stranglehold on people with criminal tendencies. He has done a great job in curbing the biggest problem in Mumbai, such as drug addiction, and has also contributed to the on-going seizure operations in the Mumbai area. He has recently taken over the post of Senior Inspector of Police at Powai Police station.
He had also previously worked as a Police Inspector (Crime) in Powai Police station and also as a police inspector at Sakinaka police station. As a result, he has close ties with Powai, Sakinaka and surrounding areas. It’s therefore heartening that Powai now gets a super cop with a successful track record in crime prevention.
Although the area under the Powai police station is quite peaceful, sensitive areas like IIT Mumbai need special vigilance. It will be a challenging task for the police staff to raise awareness and attention to prevent online fraud.
After Sr PI Sonawane took over the charge, activists of various parties, organizations and groups in Powai congratulated him. On this occasion, members of a burgeoning press association ‘Powai Dainik Patrakar Sangh’ also met him and discussed various issues in Powai and felicitated him with a bouquet.
