The struggle of the Municipal Hospital in Sangharsh Nagar, Chandivali which has been stalled for many years, is over. The foundation stone of BMC’s super-speciality hospital was laid by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, on Tuesday, June 6. All the necessary permissions for this hospital have been obtained, and the ‘Bhoomi puja’ ceremony of the 290-bed, 12-story hospital with state-of-the-art medical facilities was done by the CM. This hospital will bring great relief to the residents of Powai, Chandivali and surrounding areas.
This well-equipped super specialty hospital in Chandivali is going to be built in the near future, as the BMC is trying to reduce the pressure on the Mumbai Municipal Corporation hospitals such as KEM, Sion, Nair, and Cooper.
Along with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, MLA Bharat Gogawle, MLA Dilip Lande, Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, People’s Representatives, senior officials of the Municipal Corporation and a large number of citizens were present on this occasion.
Residents have been demanding a hospital in the Chandivali area for the past one and a half decades. Considering this demand of the citizens, local MLA Dilip (Mama) Lande followed up and raised the issue. As no movement was seen after continuous follow-ups, he had also warned of self-immolation if the hospital was not built. In this matter, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde followed up with the Center and ordered the Commissioner to start the process of constructing the hospital.
The construction of a hospital includes various facilities such as a firefighting and fire prevention system, a modular operation theater, a medical gas system, and staff quarters for doctors and other staff. Three wings of 15, 19, and 17 stories will be constructed for the hospital staff.
The work of the hospital is expected to be completed in the next three years, and the respective contractor will be responsible for the maintenance of the hospital building and staff colony buildings for the next 8 years after the construction of the building and the service of the patients.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Shinde said that, the work is underway to make Sangharsh Nagar a beautiful place by providing basic facilities. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister also said that rooms will be made available for 48 families in Asalfa Village and he also said that musical fountains will be installed in Powai Lake on the lines of Futala Lake in Nagpur through the Municipal Corporation.
