Finally, the Sofa on Chandivali Farm Road was removed

The sofa, which has been laying on the Chandivali farm road for a month, has finally been removed from the road after a constant chase by the CCWA and residents. Although this is a small victory for the citizens, the problem is not over yet.

Along with offices and residential complexes on Chandivali Farm Road, there is heavy traffic of vehicles coming towards Powai. Due to this, there is a problem of traffic congestion on this route every day. Addition on, in the first week of January a large sofa was placed on the sewer cover in front of the Kamani Oil Mill on this road.

By placing these big sofas on this already congested road, traffic congestion has increased. Chandivali Citizen Welfare Association along with local citizens had first tweeted about this on January 11 and drew the attention of the municipal administration.

While replying to this BMC said, we regret your inconvenience sir. We have notified the concerned department for a swift resolution.

As there was no change even after almost 10 days, on January 21, the association tweeted again and pointed out that the BMC has not taken any action on it. To add to that, the street light was also not working at this place, and many motorists did not realize that the sofa was on the road in the dark, and the possibility of an accident increased.

On this, a municipal official on condition of anonymity told Avartan Powai that, the route has heavy traffic due to which the iron cover on the drain and area has been damaged. We are soon repairing it and the sofa will be removed soon.

This continuous follow-up of the citizens and CCWA has been successful on Sunday, and this sofa lying on the road has finally been removed. But the problem is not over yet, the sofa has now been replaced by Barricades. So the struggle of citizens is now going to be to remove these barricades.
