In a jaw-dropping incident that unfolded in broad daylight at the renowned Crystal Palace building in Rambagh, Powai, a master thief snuck into an unsuspecting flat and made off with a staggering 10 lakhs in cash.
This audacious heist was masterminded while the homeowner, Rupali Gurav (name changed), was away on work in Mumbai. Interestingly, recent history repeats itself, as an unfortunate incident of theft occurred at the woman’s father’s house in Rambagh last week, police now on the hunt for the criminal.
According to the Powai Police, when his family members went to the flat on Tuesday afternoon, they found the door of the flat and the cupboards in the house open and the belongings scattered. They immediately informed Guruv about this.
Upon investigation, an officer from the Powai police revealed, “There are telltale signs of the thief employing a sharp rod or screwdriver to gain entry. The inner door and the cupboard bear visible marks of damage caused by a sharp instrument.”
Adding further intrigue to the incident, the officer continued, “According to the complainant’s statement, the thief made off with the 10 lakh cash, which had been surreptitiously hidden under the bed.”
Police have registered a case of theft under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and are currently pursuing investigative leads.
“We are tirelessly examining CCTV footage from both the building and surrounding areas. Concurrently, efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect are underway. The dog squad has also been called in for assistance, and promising leads have already been uncovered. Rest assured, the perpetrator will soon be brought to justice and held in police custody,” told investigating officer.
