On Wednesday, Vikhroli Vidhansabha MLA Sunil Raut, along with senior Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, inspected the road-widening work of the Hiranandani-Vikhroli Link Road, which connects Powai, Hiranandani, and Vikhroli. Present at the occasion were BMC Deputy Commissioner (Zone 6) Devidas Kshirsagar, BMC ‘S’ Ward Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ambi, Roads Department Officers, other municipal officials, Shivsena Sub-division Chief Dharmanath Pant, Shakhapramukh Sachin Madane, Shiv Sainiks, and local citizens.
The Hiranandani-Vikhroli Link Road had been in a state of disrepair for several years due to disputes. As a result, commuters had to travel via the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) to Gandhinagar and then via SV Road to Vikhroli. Finally, the dispute was solved and, upon the transfer of the land to the BMC, the road from Swaminarayan Chowk to Tata Power was concretised with the funds of the then Legislative Council member (MLC) RN Singh. This provided great relief to passengers traveling between Hiranandani and Vikhroli.
Due to the encroachment on this road in a few days and the bad road from Tata Power to Kailash Complex, the vehicles have been getting stuck for hours. Additionally, there is a big climb from Kailash Complex towards Hiranandani, and many cars have been getting damaged due to clutch plate burning or other reasons.
The representatives of the Hiranandani residents, under the leadership of Dharmanath Pant, met the local MLA Sunil Raut and demanded the construction of this road.
“Following up on the demand made by the citizens, I have asked the Municipal Corporation to construct a 90-foot road which is in the development plan. Accordingly, on Wednesday, I visited an area with DMC, AMC, municipal officials, and local citizens to recognize the problem. A meeting will be held soon to decide on the construction of this road as soon as possible,” said MLA Sunil Raut.
