On Friday Powai police raided a spa that was running a prostitution business under the name of massage and spa and forced women into prostitution. Powai police have arrested the manager and owner of the spa in the said crime. The arrested accused spa manager, owner has been identified as Saddam Sadiq Ansari (29).
According to the information given by the police, Powai police had received reliable information that a person was running a prostitution business under the name of massage and spa in Powai.
Acting on a tip-off about the flesh trade activities, the team deputed a decoy customer to establish contact and strike a deal with the spa operator.
After verifying the credibility of the information under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Sonawane, the Powai police team led by Police Inspector (Crime) Ganesh Patil, Anti-Terrorism Squad Assistant Police Inspector Suryakant Partkar, P.C. Jagadhane, P.N. Landage, P.S. Kasare swooped on Spa located on the second floor of Powai plaza.
“We had received information that women were being forced into prostitution at ‘Hygienic Spa the Salon’ on the second floor of Powai Plaza. Accordingly, when we raided the place on October 6, we found some women who were allegedly pushed into the flesh trade, they have been rescued,” Powai police said.
They further added, “The manager, owner of the spa has been booked and arrested under Section 370 (3) along with Section 3,4,5 of the Prevention of Immoral Trade Act (PITA) for forcing women into prostitution.”
