For over half a century, Kala Vikas Mandal in Powai, Mumbai, has been lighting up the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav with deep devotion and grand celebrations. Last year marked a huge milestone—the Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of dedication and togetherness. This wasn’t just a party; it was a proud moment reflecting the Mandal’s lasting legacy and the strong bond it shares with the culture and people of Powai.
Kala Vikas Mandal’s mission goes beyond the Ganesh festival. They truly believe that worshipping Lord Ganesha means serving society. That’s why they’ve been supporting nearly 600 students from local schools like Gnyan Mandir, Powai English School, and Powai Public School by covering their school fees. Their motto? “Education is the most powerful tool of empowerment.” This support shows how deeply the Mandal cares about giving every child a chance to grow and succeed.
The Mandal’s care doesn’t stop with education. They’re active in health and welfare too, organizing blood donation camps, health check-up drives, support for Anganwadi centers, and various community welfare programs. This year’s Ganeshotsav is extra special. To celebrate and revive the rich heritage of Hindu culture, the Mandal has beautifully recreated the royal court of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It’s a proud nod to history, especially since Maharashtra’s twelve historic forts recently got recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage sites. Through this artistic tribute, the Mandal sends a powerful message: just as Shivaji Maharaj kept the spirit of Hindutva alive, we too must carry that pride and spirit forward today.
