Local MLA and DCP Zone-X Inaugurated Hiranandani Police Help (Shelter) Post

DCP (Zone-X) Datta Nalavde, Sr PI Powai police station Jitendra Sonavane and local MLA Dilip Lande inaugurating the Police Shelter Post at Hiranandani, Powai.

Most demanded the police help (shelter) post built near Hiranandani, Heritage Park on the demand of citizens was inaugurated on Friday, September, 29 by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-X) Datta Nalavde and Chandivali Assembly MLA Dilip Lande. The post was set up with the efforts of MLA Lande, and the police will be present there 24×7 to prevent any misdeeds occurring in the area.

Senior Police Inspector (Powai Police Station) Jitendra Sonawane, social worker Sanjay Tiwari, Priya Mohan, Melbin Victor, Preeti Mehra, Hiranandani Group General Manager (Administration, Security) Ranvijay Verma, Rotary Club’s Hanuman Tripathi, Deepak Daryanani, Hiranandani Gardens Residents Welfare Associations Harish Iyer, Shakha Pramukh Shiva Suryavanshi, Rajendra Jadhav, Dhanesh Jadhav, Youth Shakha Pramukh Shailesh Pawar and a large number of residents were present on occasion.

Youths create a nuisance on the road in the Hiranandani area especially on Cliff Avenue Road. Night-time speeding of motorbikes, shouting and drunkenness have increased in the area. Therefore, a resident of Hiranandani, Powai area has been demanding that the police should increase patrolling here and make a beat post on Cliff Avenue road.

Local residents had brought this matter to the attention of the higher authorities of the Mumbai Police and MLA Lande. Considering this demand, Lande has set up a police help post at the entrance of the heritage park after obtaining all the necessary permissions from the police administration and the BMC garden department.

“There are parks in the area, citizens especially women and senior citizens, come for morning and evening walks. Police presence will make them feel safe. There have been complaints from citizens that some youths are misbehaving and making noise. Therefore, this police help room has been provided by the residents for the police, which will help us maintain law and order in the area,” said Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Sonawane.

“As this post is not a police beat chowky, there will be no special contact number here. The main control room and the Powai police station will assist in providing prompt assistance on complaints received from the area,” Powai police added.

This shelter room at Hiranandani has been divided into two sections. Seats for police personnel on patrol have been arranged in the outer section. In the inner section, a changing area, dining space, and bathroom facilities for the policemen.
