The Chandivli community is hitting the streets in Headship of Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association (CCWA) on September 14 to protest the ongoing delay in finishing the much-needed 90-feet, Development Plan (DP) road. This road is supposed to link Chandivali Farm Road with the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR). For years, locals have been waiting for this crucial road to ease their daily commute, but progress has been painfully slow.
Mandeep Singh Makkar, founder of Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association (CCWA), shared the frustration felt by many residents. “Back in 2023, we even staged a hunger strike to draw attention to how badly this road is needed,” he said. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had assured the public that a tender was out and that construction would begin soon after. Yet, two years later, the road remains unfinished with no visible work happening on the ground.
Makkar warned that the traffic mess is only going to get worse, especially with several new residential towers cropping up around the area. “People are stuck in unbearable congestion every day, and it’s only going to get tougher if this road isn’t ready soon,” he added.
With patience running thin, the protest on September 14 aims to push the authorities to finally get the wheels turning on this long-awaited project and bring relief to Chandivli’s daily commuters.
