The complainant, 66-year-old Sudhir Hegde, has lived in Lake Homes since 2013. He runs a business involved in printing, packaging, and chemical trading. His wife, Ashmita, is currently away in Bengaluru, caring for her elderly parents.

Later that afternoon, when Hegde returned to his bedroom about 3 pm, he noticed that the cupboard had been forcibly opened. Upon checking, he discovered that the money stored inside (1,700 US dollars (about Rs 1.46 lakh) and 40,000 Indian rupees) was missing.

“The complainant immediately informed the building security guard and called Sanas and asked him about the missing money kept in the cupboard, but Sanas said that she did not know about it and that the complainant must have kept it somewhere by mistake,” the police said.

They further added “However, suspicion soon fell on both Sanas and Rane, the driver, as they both had access to the house.”
