The Mumbai Traffic Police have introduced temporary odd-even parking restrictions on several busy stretches in Powai and the Sakinaka Traffic Division to tackle heavy congestion and ensure a clear path for emergency vehicles. The new rules went into effect on May 20, 2026, and will remain in place until August 19, 2026.
According to a notification from the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Eastern Suburban Traffic, double-sided parking on these narrow roads has been causing severe traffic bottlenecks. To ease the flow of traffic, parking will now be regulated based on the calendar date. On even-numbered dates, motorists are permitted to park only on the northern side of the designated roads. On odd-numbered dates, parking shifts exclusively to the southern side.
The restrictions apply to Main Street Road from Galleria Circle to Swami Narayan Circle, High Street Road from D Mart Circle to the Heritage Building, and Forest Street Road from Orchid Avenue to Eden Garden Junction.
A section of Saki Vihar Road, stretching from the PWD Office road near the Westin Hotel up to Ambedkar Udyan, is also included in the order.
Traffic police have urged motorists to strictly follow the daily rotation to avoid penalties and help maintain smooth vehicular movement in the area.
