Residents of Powai are raising alarms after DP Road 9 experienced significant flooding this week, despite the monsoon being months away. The culprit is reportedly a leaking sewage line beneath the surface of the newly concretized road, which was completed only about six months ago.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism regarding the quality of infrastructure projects handled by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Mandeep Singh Makkar Founder of the Chandivali Citizen Welfare Association (CCWA) expressed deep frustration over the situation, questioning the durability of the recent “concretization” drive.
“If roads are flooding before the monsoon, what will the condition be during the peak rains?” Makkar asked, highlighting the vulnerability of local infrastructure.
Taxpayers and commuters are now calling for an immediate investigation into the faulty sewage line and a permanent fix before the heavy rains turn this minor leak into a major civic disaster.
